Are you a Leader or a Manager?

I have always believed that a leader is someone who will do the same things that they ask you to do.  If they ask you to show the business plan - you know that they are also showing the business plan.  A leader is constantly doing result producing activities.  Think of the best people that you have ever worked for or worked with. Were they leaders or managers?  I would do anything for a leader because I know that they would do it with me.  I also know that they could do it without me.  Leaders inspire!  Leaders get in the trenches and work to help other people become successful.  Leaders want you to have as much or more success than they have ever had.

Many of us have also worked for managers.  Managers tell you what to do but don't practice what they preach.  Managers tell you how to make calls but don't personally make their own calls.  Managers tell you that you need to attend the local seminar but then they don't show up.  Managers take credit on your efforts.  Managers don't want you to be too successful because of their own insecurities.
If you want to be successful in building your own business -  be a leader - not a manager.  Which are you?
